When I started bee keeping many years ago, 18 years to be exact. I lucked out and found a very good Master Bee Keeper, Dr. Joe Carson. Joe spent a lot of time teaching me how to keep bees. I was constantly inquiring about what to do next and how to do it. Reading and doing. Failure and success and never giving up.
During that first couple of years. Joe noticed my attention to detail and we had many long discussions. I joined bee the local bee club and learn local bee keeping. I subscribed to all the Bee Keeping magazines. Went to Bee Seminars. Learning then and still learning today.
How I got into packages and then later Nucs.
Dr. Carson was moving on in the Field of Bee Food research and development. Formulating products to help bees live a better life with less stress. Traveling the world over to see how other bee keepers deal with different situations and problems.
He didn't have time to import bees to Alaska. That's where I came in. Joe asked if I would take over that portion of his business. I said, Yes! Dr. Carson introduced all his clients to me and away we went. He told them Mike is a 747 Pilot. His attention to detail is fantastic and will take care of your needs. I grew the business 400%.
We moved to the Lower 48 in 2010 and grew the business from there to what is now Northwest Bee Supply. The largest Bee supplier in the Northwest. Delivering upwards of 2200 packages all over the Northwest.
We imported five pound packages to Alaska and four pound packages to the Northwest ranging out as far as Western Montana.
All the bees come from the Northwest Region, from our Commercial Bee Keepers in Northern Oregon.
Then as things changed, one of our great suppliers had to get out of the package business.
Well, I made the best of it and got what packages he would supply that year and used a few other great Bee Keepers to round out orders.
We had to do something the next year. That's when we switched to Nucs. I knew Nucs were a great way to start out the season for new and experienced Bee Keepers. I just didn't have a supplier. Then along comes Tom and Steve. Steve told me about Tom. I got a lot of Nucs from Steve. Tom had a lot of Nucs sitting in his apiary because his buyer got out of the business. I acquired those. Boy were they Great Nucs. The best I's ever seen.
Since then Tom and I have been producing Great Nucs. Tom's Apiary has been around over 40 years old and he has been working the business for his Father-in-Law. Tom runs a very good healthy operation with a great crew. Hence we get to pass this on to our valued customers.
We now supply the Northwest with Great Bees with my Wife Kathy. We make several essential products for bees. Mostly our Super Pollen Patties, fortified with Dr. Carson's additives.
I hope this brief history is helpful to know who we are and where we came from.
Like I always say. " If you have great product, the rest is easy."
Thanks for your past and continued support.
